Suchitoto Squatters

While in Suchitoto, El Salvador my teacher Susan Sterner and I visited the remnants of an abandoned jail. Too poor to afford housing, several different families lived in its walls without a roof over their head.
We met the family of Anna Ides and her two sons, Jonathan and Jefferson who live there. Anna sells corn to make a living. The remnants of the roof of the jail serve as a jungle gym for her sons. Despite living in such hardship, hospitality, hope and kindness still exist in the family.
